The LTPA (Lightweight Third-Pary Authentication) is an authentication mechanism used by IBM® WebSphere© and Lotus® Domino© applications to provide Single Sign On functionalities. The LTPA plugin for Joomla! provides Single Sign On functionalities through LTPA also for our Joomla! systems.

When using LTPA mechanism, an application running on WebSphere© or Domino© creates an encrypted cookie on the user browser and using the LTPA key another application can decrypt the cookie and authenticate the user using the info contained inside the cookie. The LTPA plugin for Joomla! provides this decryption capabilities for our Joomla! systems and authenticates automatically an user coming from a WebSphere© Application.
